Farmers Yarn No.2: Kyle and Emma Moody of Wicklow Hills Farm

Farmers, Kyle and Emma, tell us their experience with Repost posts on their 700ha Tararua Properties.

Together with my wife Emma we farm 700ha across three properties in the Tararua region running sheep/beef and a dairy platform which we took over through succession in 2019, in 2021.

We purchased a 42ha runoff at Alfredton which required 4km of internal fencing. With this in mind, and expenses been our first priority, it was while scrolling Facebook one night I came across Repost. At first glance the pricing caught my attention, I had made an enquiry and the next day I had a reply, so I made an order for 490 1.8 quarter rounds, thus starting my new trend of using Repost posts.

For installation we mainly use a tractor mounted rammer and some requiring spade work and to date we have used around 1400 repost posts. They are strong, they are lighter to carry, they are very cost effective, and they are saved from landfill. I’ve found, they will perform on any fence line from 7-8 wire conventional, 4-5 wire electric and also post and rail.

I would like to see all wineries nationwide take up the waste solution offered, it helps them environmentally and in turn helps farmers both environmentally and financially. Farmers who are thinking about it... Well, the cost saving says it all, but you can also fence a lot more compared to the price of new posts, allowing for quick gains on stock management, containment, repairs or even fencing waterways for compliance.

With a great team behind the scenes the process from quotation to delivery is always straight forward and hassle free every time.

Thanks Kyle and Emma for the positive feedback, hearing firsthand that they as farmers are not only finding our product worthwhile; but also championing the bigger mission of saving waste from landfill is why we do what we do. Farmers are resourceful people, and these guys epitomise the essence of why we are bloody proud to be doing what we do!
