QnA with Lesley Boon: Viticulture Manager of Pernod Ricard

Lesley has been following Repost since the start and was stoked when the team finally rocked up to the Pernod site, ripping it their waste and getting it to farmers. We thought we’d give her a quick-fire Q&A!

How was the 24’ harvest season?

Harvest was great and the fruit looks really good. I love harvest as all of the teams, vineyards and winery are working together for the same goal of bringing in the fruit we have worked all year on producing.

How your finding this year so far?

It goes very fast as we finish a busy spring summer campaign then gear up for harvest and then by the time harvest is finished and we have done the tidy up. It seems like April is gone and we are in May and beginning the year again starting to prune!

What drew you to the vineyard Industry?

I finished by Batchelor of Science degree in Wellington and decided I wanted to work outside for a while, I got a job at Brancott vineyard as a casual and worked my way up from there.

Somehow nearly 25 years later, I am still in the industry and still enjoy what I do and work with a great team of people in a really cool industry.  I love that the viticulture industry is embracing tradition and innovation at the same time which always makes it interesting.

Your favourite wine and why?

Deutz Marlborough Prestige Cuvee – as well as it being delicious, any time you are opening a bottle of bubbles its usually for a good occasion with loved ones.

How you find/found working with Repost?

Super easy, it’s very exciting to find a solution to our ever-building broken post problem and great to work with the Repost team. They are professional, they communicate well are open to feedback and the team works very hard. It,s been impressive to watch how fast they have worked through our broken post piles.
