FAQs

Is someone available to visit my vineyard?

Yes — we’re more than happy to arrange a site visit to understand your needs, assess post requirements, and talk through options. Just get in touch.

What lengths are the standard posts?

2.4m square intermediates with conventional roundwood MCAH4 treated end assemblies

What post spacings do you recommend?

Typical vineyard spacing is 1.8 to 2.4 m, depending on terrain and trellis design.

How do I insert the posts without damaging them?

Use a post driver or a rubber-capped hand rammer.

Can I manually install the posts with a hand rammer?

Yes depending on soil type, the KT² posts are approx. 11 kg and easy to handle.

Must I use a post protector sleeve when installing mechanically?

It’s highly recommended. We have a steel post cap we can lend to you that protects against splitting or deformation during driving.

Do you supply a hand rammer?

We don’t supply rammers directly, but can recommend options locally.

Can I put an MCA post next to a broken wooden one?

Yes — they’re designed to integrate easily into existing trellis layouts.

What is the breakage rate of MCA posts?

Zero to date. We back our KT² posts with a 2-year breakage warranty for replacement trellis and a 5yr breakage warranty for new/re-development. The MCAH4 treatment has 50 year limited treatment warranty.

If a post gets dented, will it snap or just bend?

Our posts are cut from the sapwood of pruned mature Radiata Pine trees. The KT² are kiln-dried yet flexible. They tend to flex or splinter gradually.

What material are the posts made from?

Locally sourced FSC certified Radiata Pine, kiln-dried and treated with MCAH4 (Micronised Copper Azole) — no arsenic, no chromium.

How long will they last?

We’ve been supplying similar posts to Australia for 13 years and they’re still ordering more. The KT² is a top of the line intermediate and we stand by that statement.

Are the posts strong enough for high wind conditions?

If installed correctly absolutely yes — MCAH4-treated, kiln-dried Radiata Pine 88x88mm KT² posts have been tested in the same way structural timber is tested for supplying NZ house builders. Kaituna sawmill timber testers struggle to break the posts with 2t of pressure.

Does your system work with automated vine strippers/pruners?

Yes — MCA posts are smooth and shaped to be compatible with mechanised vineyard tools.

Why switch to MCA from CCA or steel?

Because we’re a local partnership sourcing timber from within 100km of the sawmill and supplying posts within 60km of our gate. Micronised Copper Azole offers the same H4 treatment as CCA but without the arsenic and chromium. The kicker…MCA can be reused locally to create bioenergy that dries another round of posts. Your disposal costs are zero.

Are there delivery costs?

Yes — delivery is calculated based on location and order size. We’re happy to quote. If within 50km of our mill its FREE with Repost.

What is the standard delivery time for posts?

At the moment, 1 week for smaller orders. For larger orders 2-3 weeks. For redevelopment orders come and talk to us. We’ll make a plan with you.

What are the pack dimensions?

Standard packs contain 32 KT² posts. They are rectangular in shape and strapped with timber feet meaning delivery, unloading and restacking on your block is very neat and tidy.

Are there price benefits for larger orders?

The KT² posts are competitively priced for however large or small your order is. When planning for redevelopment/development please get in touch with us to discuss your project. We’re happy to work in with you to achieve a great result.

First hand feedback is so essential. Vineyard Owner Dave Knappstein says

“My trial has gone exceedingly well. The unpointed MCA posts drove well into stoney soils. They didn’t move during the typical hot, dry Blenheim summer and come harvest, there wasn’t a damaged post to be seen.I’m stoked with the post performance ”
